After a successful reword, Bristol have asked for 2022 updates.

Earlier this year Bristol City Council commissioned Team Netsol to reword their Council Tax Reduction Scheme document. This was a great success and the updated document was published back in April. Subsequently, Bristol recently asked Team Netsol to revise the document for 2022 with the end of year uprating and their scheme updates, which we will gladly oblige.

Good to be back!

Good to be back!

By Malcolm Gardner

It was good to be back in Telford for the IRRV Annual Conference. Great company and prizes galore!

A really good few days were had at conference by Team Netsol.

It was great to see so many familiar faces, and to welcome some new ones. At this conference we had Nick Turner as usual, but were pleased to introduced Bessy, who recently started with Netsol and this was her very first conference. Everyone was so welcoming to us all - but maybe that was just the chocolate talking!

We had a couple of prize draws this year as we left the tombola behind for this one. The main prize went to Michael Fisher from Wirral Council. The authority is now entitled to a full 12 months subscription of the BECS Upload solution, which will help them provide key services to their citizens. Some may say the main prize was the PS5, which made the journey up to Scotland with Kevin Fraser of Perth & Kinross Council. The word was this would make a nice Xmas present but it actually never made it into the wrapping, and was hooked up within hours!

Congrats to everyone for taking part and we hope the Netsol Wonka bars made up for all those who finished joint second.

Netsol are finalising preparations for this year's IRRV Annual Conference

Just over 2 weeks to go now until the 2021 IRRV Annual Conference takes place, which Netsol will be supporting. It is so good to be meeting working colleagues and business associates face-to-face for the first time, in a long time. Hosting our popular Monday 12pm Workshops is great, but getting along to see some of those people will be brilliant.

Netsol will be hosting competitions and giving away some amazing prizes (as well as offering some new and exciting products!). As soon as you walk in you should see us wearing our colour coordinated outfits and with some new faces to welcome you.

We are looking forward to getting involved and just being part of something, again.

BECS at Sefton Council

BECS at Sefton Council

By Nick Turner

Diane Turner explains why Sefton enjoys using the BECS solution.

Sefton Council took on BECS via Arvato. The system has been successfully used for a number of years.

"We've been using Team Netsol's BECS e-solution for Housing Benefit and local Council Tax Support for several years now so it is well-tried and tested.

The solution very quickly enabled us to move away from a lengthy, paper-based process to achieve efficiencies. Almost immediately, the BECS entitlement calculator removed the receipt of applications from customers who would not qualify. The self-serve web-based facility meant that customers had more options to make or maintain their claim, while the intelligent format of the solution means that customers are only providing information and evidence that is relevant to them thereby reducing the need for repeat contact.

Integration with our electronic document management and processing systems means that staff can avoid having to re-key information, doing more in less-time.

Team Netsol have always been very responsive in our dealings with them and it remains a positive experience working with them."

Mid Sussex - Testimonial

Mid Sussex - Testimonial

By Nick Turner

Mid Sussex provided some of their highlights from Connect CTR.

Kevin Stewart from Mid Sussex council provided this testimonial to talk about his experience from Connect CTR.

"Mid Sussex DC selected Team Netsol to help write our updated Council Tax Support Scheme for 2020/21 that includes a new Banded Income Approach.

Due to the impact of the roll out of Universal Credit, with 42% of customers receiving this in Mid Sussex district being employed, the amount they owed in Council Tax changed in a lot of cases each month. Mid Sussex DC have decided to introduce a new approach to how they calculate Council Tax Support to be more transparent to customers and to ease administration for its Council Tax team."

To help write this scheme they brought in Team Netsol, who have experience and knowledge in writing such schemes. Kevin Stewart, Business Unit Leader at Mid Sussex DC stated "Team Netsol have the Benefit knowledge and skill that we need to write our Council Tax Support Scheme for 2020/21. The Scheme they have written for Mid Sussex DC highlights this."

Blackburn & Darwen - Testimonial

Blackburn & Darwen - Testimonial

By Nick Turner

Blackburn & Darwen provided some of their highlights from Connect CTR.

Blackburn & Darwen were the first authority to take on the service offered by Team Netsol. They were so pleased with what we produced that they were happy to prepare the following statement:

Like most councils, Blackburn with Darwen administered a Council Tax Support scheme that was extremely detailed and almost a replica of the old Council Tax Benefit scheme. We have always known that it was a real barrier to customers who found it difficult to understand and follow. When faced with additional budget savings in 2018, and the need to make some more significant changes to the scheme, we took the opportunity to rewrite the whole scheme in easy to understand language that made it more accessible to understand, and easier to administer.

Team Netsol’s Malcolm Gardner and Paul Howarth assisted and supported us throughout, providing the expertise and advice in the design of the changes. Progress was monitored via regular check points, with the full rewrite of the scheme delivered ahead of the agreed date. Our scheme now consists of 44 easy to read pages, rather than the previous 180-page document.

I would highly recommend Malcolm and Paul to any council seeking advice and support with changes to their scheme, whether they be minor or a full rewrite.

BECS at Derbyshire Dales

BECS at Derbyshire Dales

By Nick Turner

Paul Ratcliffe explains why DD enjoys using the BECS solution

Derbyshire Dales Council took on BECS Claims. The system has been successfully used for a number of years.

"Derbyshire Dales has used the web-based BECS calculator for almost ten years and it remains one of my favourite applications assisting claimants and their representatives in providing an accurate entitlement calculation. The software is intuitive and easy to use leading on to an electronic claims process that is more user friendly than traditional paper form filling.

BECS Claims has improved the accuracy of claim assessments by limiting the opportunity for customers to commit errors. The whole process is reliable, consistent and provides accurate calculation outcomes and data capture. The evidence check list provides a personalised list of evidences that each customer can easily follow to ensure that their claim is dealt with at the first point of contact. Work throughput has improved and I would state that the BECS suite of products provides the efficiencies that my team are forever seeking to use to improve our customer services, meeting our KPI related to accuracy and speed of processing whilst also being innovative in our service delivery."

BECS at South Staffs

BECS at South Staffs

By Nick Turner

Michelle Kettles explains why South Staffs enjoys using the BECS Claims solution.

Michelle at South Staffordshire Council took on BECS has been using BECS Claims for many years. Recently they also too on BECS DHP to assist with their provision of additional services. Michelle wanted to say the following:

"We have been using the New Claim form as provided by TeamNetsol for several years without any issues. The form is intelligent which makes it easy for customers to use. It integrates with our EDMS system, creating efficiency in the back office.

We use the DHP claim form for both Discretionary Housing Payments and Council Tax Discretionary Support applications. The budgeting sheet has made it easy for customers to provide accurate information about their circumstances.

The system support from TeamNetsol is great, any issues are investigated promptly and resolutions are discussed over the phone rather than by email."
